Control Arms advocates for greater controls in the international arms trade to end the human suffering caused by the irresponsible arms trade, and to stop arms transfers that fuel conflict, systemic armed violence, poverty and serious violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.

Join as a Member

Become a member of the Control Arms Coalition to work with us towards the reduction of armed violence and conflict. 

Members are organizations that are actively working towards the universalization and implementation of the ATT, share the goals and objectives of the Control Arms Coalition and support its advocacy messages.

To be eligible for membership, organizations must take the Control Arms Membership Pledge and must meet the following criteria:

  • Registered as a legal entity or registered nationally

  • Non-governmental and non-profit

  • Independent

  • Publicly accountable and transparent

  • Non-discriminatory

 

Join as an Associate

Become an associate of the Control Arms Coalition to work with us towards the reduction of armed violence and conflict. 

Associates are organizations, groups and individuals that are working towards the universalization and implementation of the ATT Arms Trade Treaty, support the goals and objectives of the Control Arms Coalition, but do not engage in advocacy activities.

While supportive of the Control Arms coalition and its work, associates may not be able to comply with the criteria listed under members or take the Control Arms Membership Pledge which requires organizations to “actively advocate and campaign for the implementation of the Arms Trade Treaty”.

Types of organizations that qualify as associates:

  • Certain coalitions, networks and campaigns

  • Foundations

  • Academic and research institutions and bodies

  • Associations (such as professional associations) and working groups

  • Institutional networks  (regional bodies and governmental networks)

  • International organisations (UN bodies, etc.)

  • Individuals (academics, researchers, etc)
