As part of the “100 Days of Speaking Out!”, a countdown to the treaty negotiations, Control Arms will regularly feature stories and profiles of different people who support a bulletproof ATT.
“An Arms Trade Treaty matters to me because it will precisely regulate all transactions related to sales, acquisitions and resale of arms. The Treaty will significantly reduce the opportunities for manipulations and sales of arms to countries already under sanctions or those violating human rights. The Treaty will bring much stricter control, thus preventing terrorist organizations to acquire small arms and other weapons which was too often the case.
I consider that we have a chance to see a more peaceful and stable world without the terrifying scenes of massacres of civilians and victims splashing over us every single day and abhorred by any normal human being.
The Treaty will prevent the sale to countries already in conflict or to countries with the potential to provoke conflicts in their region.
I personally fully support the Arms Trade Treaty and I sincerely hope it will be adopted by a great majority of countries which would give it a greater legitimacy for its application.”
