Jeff Abramson, Director of the Control Arms Secretariat said:
“Control Arms welcomes the actions taken recently to halt the alleged shipment of helicopters to the Syrian government. The withdrawal of insurance by a UK group shows just how interconnected global trade is today, but governments shouldn’t have to rely on a responsible private sector actor to do their work for them. In July, countries must negotiate a legally binding Arms Trade Treaty that prevents arms transfers that fuel atrocities.”
