On 2 July, Turkey’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations Halit Çevik signed the ATT.
Upon signing the Treaty, the Ambassador stated to press that regulating the global arms trade is very important for a peaceful world. Additionally, he stated that Turkey’s standards in the arms trade are “actually beyond the inserted provisions of this treaty.” Cevik further underlined the importance of “universal rules” in the global arms trade, adding that all member countries should sign the treaty.
Control Arms attended the signing ceremony in order to offer their congratulations and support.
